Origin of the Story
Goldfish were originally brought to Japan centuries ago as rare, luxury pets for aristocrats. By the Edo period (18th century), they became widely loved by the public. Especially during the hot, humid Japanese summer, watching the elegant and cool movements of goldfish swimming in water became a cherished way for people to find visual refreshment and relief from the heat.
